Sunday, September 10th, 1972: Nettles Injured, Out of Lineup 2 Weeks
After the end of today's game between Cleveland and Boston, Graig Nettles skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after colliding with a player at a base, the Indians had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The second baseman will miss at least 2 weeks with a pinched nerve.

Year-to-date in 136 games Nettles has compiled a .261 batting average with 129 hits and 23 home runs. He has also scored 77 times and knocked in 84 runs.
Wednesday, August 30th, 1972: Jenkins Blanks Indians
"He's mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," the Oakland manager said. "When Jenkins does that, good things happen."

These comments came after Ferguson Jenkins and the Oakland Athletics shut out the Cleveland Indians 3-0.

He had 12 strikeouts, 1 walk and allowed 2 hits.

In 1972, Jenkins has chalked up 13 wins and 10 losses in 26 starts with 162 strikeouts in 209.1 innings and a 3.05 ERA.
