Monday, May 28th, 1973: Big Stick Wins NL Trophy
Veteran Ron Santo had a great week at the plate for the Mets to capture the majority of votes for Player of the Week in the National League.

The 33-year-old New York third baseman built a .444 average on the strength of 12 hits in 27 at-bats, no home runs and 5 RBIs.

This year Santo has hit at a .296 clip with 27 RBIs, 8 home runs and 22 runs scored.
Wednesday, May 23rd, 1973: St. Louis Bats Silenced by Seaver
New York rode the magical arm of Tom Seaver in a 3-0 shutout win over St. Louis. He shackled them on 4 hits and fanned 11. Almost to a man, the St. Louis Cardinals said he had them guessing wrong all game long.

In 1973 Seaver has compiled a 6-2 record with a 2.05 ERA in 10 starts.
Wednesday, May 23rd, 1973: New York's Jorgensen Asked for Trade. Fact or Fiction?
Several teams have surfaced as a possible trading partner with New York for Mike Jorgensen -- or so rumor has it. Sources inside the Mets organization report that teams have inquired about making a deal for the 24-year-old first baseman.
