Thursday, May 31st, 1973: Eckersley Holds Texas Scoreless
The Cleveland Indians shut out the Texas Rangers behind the 5-hit pitching of Dennis Eckersley, winning by the score of 1-0 at Jacobs Field.

Monday, May 28th, 1973: Rangers Grubb Sidelined
Texas fans will be disappointed to learn that Johnny Grubb developed a strained anterior cruciate ligament while running the bases in today's game. After the doctor informed the Texas Rangers manager that Grubb was expected to miss 8 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the center fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

In the 1973 season Grubb has hit .291 with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 14 runs.
Thursday, May 17th, 1973: Gogolewski Brilliant, Blanks Rangers
"Bill Gogolewski is really a good pitcher when he throws strikes early in the count," said his manager after the Kansas City hurler tossed a complete game 1-hit shutout against the Texas Rangers.

"I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Gogolewski. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings."

Gogolewski walked 3 and struck out 1 in the 5-0 victory.

In season stats Gogolewski shows a 3-2 record in 5 games, 37 innings, 9 strikeouts and a 2.19 ERA.
