| Breaking News |  | Sunday, May 27th, 1973: 5-8 Day for LeFlore History in the making. That's what the fans at Comerica Park got to see today in the Oakland 12-10 triumph over the Tigers. Ron LeFlore of the Detroit came to the plate 8 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against the Athletics. "It was a great day for me, but a disappointing one for our fans," he said to the reporters covering the game. "I wish I could have won it for them. They like stats, but they love winning."
In the postgame press conference the Oakland skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink. I am just glad we escaped with a win. LeFlore was lethal."
R. LeFlore flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, flied out in the 10th, struck out in the 12th and hit a solo-shot off G. Abbott in the 15th.
