Thursday, May 24th, 1973: Murcer Gone for Season in New York
Bobby Murcer will soon find out from his doctors if his season will continue. The first diagnosis was not too positive and stated the New York center fielder could miss the remainder of the year. Murcer was injured while making a defensive play in the Yankees-Tigers clash at Yankee Stadium II recently. Doctors said he has a fractured elbow and would be out a minimum of 7 months.

Thus far this season Murcer is hitting .286 with 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has 22 hits in 77 at-bats and has played in 21 games.
Wednesday, May 9th, 1973: 5-5 Day for Bowa
On top of the New York hit parade today was Larry Bowa. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Yankees to a 10-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

The sweet swinging shortstop told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

The skipper of the Twins wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

L. Bowa singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Roland in the 9th.

To date, Bowa has collected 30 hits for a .268 average. He has posted 1 home run, scored 12 runs and driven in 10 runs.
Sunday, May 6th, 1973: New York RF Will Miss 2-3 Weeks
New York fans will be disappointed to learn that Sixto Lezcano developed a strained medial collateral ligament while running the bases in today's game. After the doctor informed the New York Yankees manager that Lezcano was expected to miss 2-3 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the right fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

So far this season Lezcano is hitting .310 with 4 home runs.
