21-year-old Randy Elliott sent shock waves through BTL Triple A last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Elliott made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .476 average, 10 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 6 RBI.
Where the Iowa Oaks left fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Elliott certainly made his mark last week.
Elliott is hitting .278 in 1973 with 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 37 hits in 133 at-bats and played in 50 games. |

This week Jose Cruz, center fielder for the Tulsa Oilers, slashed, mashed and bashed his way to the International League Player of the Week trophy.
Cruz put up a .667 average as he pounded out 16 hits, 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and scored 10 runs.
This season Cruz is hitting at a .342 pace with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and has scored 45 times. |
