Sunday, July 16th, 1972: CL Dukes Stays in San Diego
The San Diego Padres have finalized a deal with All Star-caliber closer Tom Dukes that will extend his stay in San Diego at least 3 years and will pay out $444,300.

To date in 1972 in 19 relief appearances, Dukes has recorded 9 saves while posting an ERA of 2.41 and 11 strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched. His totals for the year also include 3 wins and 3 losses.
